Instagram Rolls Out TikTok-like Fast Forward Feature for Reels

In Short
  • Instagram is rolling out a feature for Reels, allowing you to fast-forward reels at 2x speed.
  • To use the feature, press and hold on the right side of the screen to speed up or the left side to rewind.
  • The update is being rolled out gradually, so you will get the feature right in a few days.

It’s official, Instagram finally understands our struggle. Instagram is now rolling out a fast-forward option for Reels, making it easier to skip those long videos. If you’ve ever been stuck watching a three-minute Reel that should have been thirty seconds, this update is for you.

Let’s be honest, watching long Reels feels like a chore. But now, Instagram has finally decided to help us out. With the new update, you can fast-forward Reels at 2x speed by long-pressing on the left or right part of your phone’s screen. If this sounds familiar to you, it’s because TikTok already has a similar feature.

Instagram has been pushing longer Reels for a while now, even increasing the reel duration to 3 minutes. While this gives creators more freedom, it also means we sometimes have to watch content that drags on forever.

The fast-forward button is a simple but much-needed added feature. Now, if a Reel is taking too long to get to the good part, you don’t have to worry; you can just speed things up.

The feature is slowly rolling out to all users, so if you haven’t seen it yet, wait, it’s coming. Once it’s available, all you have to do is press and hold on the right side of your screen to increase the speed of your Reels.

So, what do you think? Will this feature make Reels more entertaining, or will it just add to our already uncontrollable reel addiction? Either way, Instagram has finally given us the power to decide how much time we actually want to spend on a Reel.
